Spring into the Library!

The Lac du Bonnet Regional Library invites children from ages 5 to 12 to “Spring into the Library” during Spring Break.  This year we are pleased to have two representatives from the Lac du Bonnet & District Historical Society as our guests.

On Tuesday, March 27th from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Skylor Mitchell will demonstrate Wool Carding with Stick Looming; on Wednesday, March 28th from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Brigitte Schneider will introduce us to the German Easter Tradition of Osterei-Malerei – Easter Egg Painting; and don’t miss what we have in store for you on Thursday, March 29th from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  Enjoy something different every day with crafts, snacks, stories and more. Registration is encouraged. Contact the Library for further details.

March Madness at the Library!  We are Spring cleaning and we have a surplus of used books right now selling out at “10 for a Toonie,” while quantities last.

Thank you to all of you who entered our “I Love to Read” book draw.  The draw was made on February 28th and the lucky winners are:  Shawna Johnson (The Heist by Janet Evanovich); Cathie Austen (Rogue Lawyer by John Grisham); Debi Mozel (Finders Keepers by Stephen King); Janice Halliday (Stella Bain by Anita Shreve); Crystal Larocque (The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert); Bonnie Warszycki (Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks); Holly Szmerski (Brown Girl Dreaming by Jacqueline Woodson); Gwen Campbell (Saving Houdini by Michael Redhill); and Mason Champagne (Around the World we Go! by Margaret Wise Brown).  Congratulations to all and do enjoy your new books!

What’s New?

This week we are featuring books for our early and junior readers.  What’s In My Truck? A colourful novelty board book depicts a range of working vehicles, from a tractor and a dump truck to a food truck and a fire truck, on spreads that incorporate interactive sliders and flaps that reveal hidden surprises.

Paul Covello’s brilliantly bold artwork counts up the things Canada loves best in Canada 123.  Join Winnie the Pooh in the Thinking Spot and Learn about Helpful Insects, in What Good are Bugs?

From the Strawberry Shortcake series we have Meet Cherry Jam! and Berry Bitty Bakers.  Dexter knows everything there is to know about kindergarten and is not at all scared about his first day there, but his stuffed dog, Buster, is very nervous, in Kindergarten Rocks!

Join Geronimo Stilton in The Chocolate Chase; from the Dork Diaries, we have Tales from a NOT-SO-Secret Crush Catastrophe; and finally, The Getaway, a new entry in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
