Library Corner – Week of January 7, 2019

 Family Literacy Night!

      Be sure to mark January 24th, 2019 on your new calendars.  To celebrate Family Literacy, the library will be hosting Family Fort Night.  From 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. on Thursday evening, we are building forts in the Library.  Bring your blankets, pillow and flashlight.  Extra building supplies will be available.  The Library will provide snacks, stories and more!  There is no fee for participating and everyone is welcome.  For more information, contact the Library at (204)345-2653.

     Peter Conradi examines the pivotal moments of the past quarter of a century and outlines how we might get relations back on track before it’s too late. Who Lost Russia?  Provides the essential background to understanding the bizarre and shifting relationship between Trump’s America and Putin’s Russia. This updated edition includes a new chapter on the year following the 2016 US Presidential Election.

Dave Eggers presents a gripping biographical novel in What is the What tracing the story of Valentino Achak Deng, who as a boy of seven was separated from his family when his village in southern Sudan was attacked by government helicopters and became one of the estimated 17,000 “lost boys of Sudan” before relocating from a Kenyan refugee camp to Atlanta in 2001.
