Call for Volunteers

The Library is looking for volunteers to work at Mrs. Lucci’s on our behalf, Monday through Saturday, from June 17th to June 29th. We have a few spots left. If you have a bit of spare time, please sign up at our circulation desk. Thank you to our volunteers for your continuous support.

Summer Reading Program

The Lac du Bonnet Library Board and Staff are pleased to announce that we will be running a Summer Reading Program again this year, from July 2nd to August 15th. The program is open to all children, ages five to twelve years of age. Visitors to our community are most welcome. Explore the wonders of nature with the Lac du Bonnet Library, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This is a drop-in program, but in order to be better prepared, pre-registration is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, please either stop by the Library or give us a call at (204)345-2653.

New Fiction

William Kent Krueger series Cork O’Connor begins with Iron Lake.  In the suspenseful first book in the series part Irish, part Anishinaabe Indian Corcoran (Cork) is the former sheriff of Aurora, Minnesota and was once a cop on Chicago’s South Side.  In the tradition of the Walt Longmire series by Craig Johnson, this in an unpredictable journey about conspiracy, corruption and scandal played out in Minnesota’s Lake country. The second in the series, titled Boundary Waters follows Cork into the Quetico-Superior wilderness as a rescue expedition ventures to search for a missing country-western singer who has disappeared.  Purgatory Ridge is the next book that finds Cork investigating an explosion at a lumber mill owned by a wealthy industrialist.  The fourth book called Blood Hollow is an eerie mystery surrounding the murder of a high school student.  Mercy Falls finds Cork investigating a mutilated body found above the waters of Mercy Falls.  In the sixth book Copper River, he is running for his life straight into a murderous conspiracy involving teenage runaways. Thunder Bay has Cork unravelling a mystery for an old friend, only to get caught in the crossfire of jealousy and revenge.  In the eighth book Red Knife he is caught in the middle of a racial gang war. Heaven’s Keep finds him on a mission to find his missing wife Jo when she goes missing in a snowstorm over the Wyoming Rockies.  The tenth book Vermillion Drift Cork stumbles upon the remains of six murder victims in an underground iron mine.  Northwest Angle Cork must solve the murder of a young girl while surviving the isolated Northwest Angle.  Trickster’s Point is the twelfth in the series following Cork and an injured politician Jubal Little.  Tamarack County finds Cork assisting a search and rescue team looking for the wife of a local judge.  The fourteenth book Windigo Island finds Cork preparing for an epic battle when he takes on the case of a teenage Ojibwe girl who washes up the shore.
