Lac du Bonnet Regional Library needs your help
The Lac du Bonnet Library is a very critical part of our regional community. It is used by over 2800 members (single and families). As well, the many ways it supplies patrons with a variety of mediums, there are children’s programs, patron computers with internet access, free WIFI and used books for sale. It provides part time employment to seven (7) local residents, including students. Annually, the operating cost is $127,000. Funding comes from the Provincial and local municipal governments. Fundraising is critical in keeping the services modern and the library open.
The Lac du Bonnet Library Board has made the hard decision to cancel the annual Fall Supper for 2020. The deciding factor was the uncertainty of the public health regulations in September due to COVID-19.
The annual Fall Supper is the Library’s greatest fund raising event, raising almost $5,900 in 2019. This community event has attracted local residents and visitors for over 30 years. This year we are reaching out to you, our library community, to see if you are willing to donate your costs of fall supper tickets in lieu of attending the event.
Community members and businesses generously donate a great deal of food and supplies as well as their time. These donations go a long way in assisting us in reaching a profit. We can only hope that your past donations could become monetary donations at this time. Any funds will be used to help us continue to operate during these difficult times.
Did you know the Lac du Bonnet Library issues charitable donation receipts? If you provide the library with a monetary donation, you will in turn, receive a donation receipt to claim on your 2020 income tax. Donations can be made in person, by cash, cheque or debit. We also accept e-transfers over the phone or by email.
This is a very different year for everyone. It has been challenging to accommodate new restrictions, and implement new regulations and keep our staff and patrons safe. The Library is proud to continue to offer these services to our community and those non-residents who enjoy our amenities. We thank all of you for your loyalty and continued support.
It is our hope that 2021 will see the return of our Fall Supper, with all the delicious smells of roast turkey, stuffing and all the fixings!
